Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

Healing That Goes Deeper. Care That Comes Home.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy is more than a medical technique – it’s a lifeline. At La Casa, we deliver it with precision, compassion, and the consistency your healing deserves.

Accelerated Healing. Compassionately Delivered

Some wounds need more than time – they need help.

NPWT uses gentle suction to remove fluid, reduce swelling, and help wounds close faster. But at La Casa, it’s more than a machine – it’s a moment of trust. Our specialists apply, monitor, and adjust the therapy in the comfort of your home, offering not only clinical excellence, but the dignity and reassurance every patient deserves.

NPWT Frequently Asked Questions

How does negative pressure therapy work, and will it hurt?
NPWT uses gentle suction to promote healing. Most patients feel relief, not pain – and our specialists monitor comfort closely.
Can negative pressure wound therapy be done at home safely?
Yes. La Casa’s providers are trained to undertake in-home NPWT and follow strict protocols to ensure safety, cleanliness, and effectiveness.
Which wounds are most suitable for negative pressure wound therapy?
NPWT can be used to treat full- and partial- thickness acute and chronic wounds, including pressure, diabetic foot and venous leg ulcers, traumatic, postoperative and dehisced surgical wounds, skin flaps and grafts, explored fistulae and partial-thickness burns
Is negative pressure wound therapy the same as wound vac?

Wound vac therapy is a treatment used to help wounds heal. This treatment uses a medical device to create a vacuum, or negative pressure, to the wound. Wound vac therapy is also known as negative pressure wound therapy, vacuum-assisted closure, or VAC therapy

When should you not use negative pressure wound therapy?
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), while beneficial for many wounds, has several contraindications that must be carefully considered. These include exposed vital structures like blood vessels, nerves, and organs, as well as malignancy within the wound, untreated osteomyelitis, non-enteric or unexplored fistulas, and necrotic tissue with eschar. Additionally, patients with bleeding risks or allergies to dressing materials may also be unsuitable for NPWT.
How often will you return to check the wound or change the dressing?
Visits are scheduled based on your wound’s needs, but we typically return every 2-3 days to ensure your wound is healing properly.
